How Search Engines like Your Website Content

Writing for maximum search engine visibility is an art. People find new websites only through the searches they perform with various Search Engines. If your web pages are highly web user friendly but are not able to stand on search engines parameters it’s difficult for them to appear on the search engine results. Search engines have different norms for indexing of WebPages based on the designing, content, keyword density, technical details etc.
What does Yahoo say it wants in a Web page? What Google expects from content of the pages? Here are some key points to make your content optimized for the Masters of the Cyberspace like Yahoo and Google.

Google Guidelines

  • Try to make content of your website useful, information-rich and clearly conveying your own ideas.
  • Think about the user’s requirement first. Find out the words users would type to find your pages and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it.
  • Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links on your website. Google crawler doesn’t recognize text contained in images.
  • Make sure that your TITLE tags and ALT attributes are descriptive and accurate.

Yahoo Guidelines

  • Yahoo is always in search of original and unique content of genuine value.
  • Metadata (including title and description) that accurately describes the contents of a web page are Yahoo’s first love.
  • Yahoo has a strong dislike for pages that harm accuracy, diversity or relevance of search results.
    Doorway Pages (pages dedicated to directing the user to another pages) are often avoided by Yahoo.
  • Multiple sites or pages offering substantially the same content can never be indexed by Yahoo.
  • The use of text or links hidden from the user will blacklist you on Yahoo.
  • Cloaking is never allowed on Yahoo. Cloaking refers to the pages that provide search engines different content as they give to the user.
  • Content that seem deceptive, fraudulent or provide a poor user experience is never accepted by Yahoo.
  • Never write Cookie-cutter pages (pages with great quantity content, automatically generated or of little value)
